Day 119

Wide-eyed for the royal wedding! No, of course we didn't wake up at 4 AM like I know some people did, but I DVRed it and was excited to show Bailey. I knew she probably wouldn't be too terribly interested, but the fact that it contained princes and princesses held her interest for a little while. She especially liked looking for the prince and said that Kate looked like Snow White. She even saw some people in the audience that she said were the 7 Dwarves. That's about the time she decided she'd had enough of that and wanted to watch the Real Snow White movie!

Day 118

Summer is approaching and that means toenail painting season is in full swing! Since my little one has totally embraced her girliness over the past year, I'm sure we'll engage in this activity often!

Today Bailey decided she wanted her toenails painted and wanted to paint mine too. I did one of her feet and then let her watch me do one of mine. Then it was her turn. Luckily she wanted to do mine clear (thank heavens!). But it was so funny watching her duplicate all of the little details she's seen me do: shaking up the polish, telling Mommy to "be very still," redipping in the polish container, and blowing on my toes at the end. I'll have to say that she did a surprisingly good job. Excuse my ugly feet- now you see why painting toenails is so important around our house!

Unfortunately, I can't quite say the same about the finished product on her toes. She decided that she only wanted one foot done. I kept asking her throughout the afternoon and evening if we could do the other one, but no! Maybe tomorrow!

Day 117

The Morning After

What a night! I was in survival mode, huddled with my child on the floor of the hallway. Of course, she was having a blast with our Puzzle Party in the Hall! Before the real line of tornados came, we had some bad lightning that struck two trees in our backyard. It was so loud and bright that I honestly thought it had hit our house or back deck. It stripped almost all of the bark off of one tree and sent bark from the other tree shooting into our windows and back glass doors.

We have also learned that the lightning struck one of our air conditioners. Luckily, it was the one that controls the kitchen and Cucci Room ;). The one for the living room and bedrooms is fine. So now we're waiting on the insurance adjustor to come look at it so that maybe we can even get a new one!!!

Overall, we fared pretty well! As Joe Haynes (who I'll say definitely earned his money last night) was calling out roads right by ours as on the tornados' paths, I was terrified. But God kept us safe and brought David home safely through the entire thing as well! Praise God!

Day 116

Such a scary night tonight! Before the storms even really started, lightning struck two trees in our back yard. Not a great picture, but this shows the tree bark that shot all the way to our back door/porch. The brightness and loud crack that came from the strike was terrifying. Of course, I was trying to be in calm Mommy Mode since David wasn't home. Can't get a good pic right now because of the rain, but there'll be some tomorrow for sure.

Day 115

It's 7:45 AM, do you know where your Mommy is?

If you're Bailey, you are looking through the window at her: outside, wearing no shoes and pajamas, panicked look on her face, pleading for you to unlock the door and let her inside!

Why you ask? All because of this guy!

I was excited to show Bailey this big toad this morning and went outside first to check it out. Then the wind blew the door closed and I realized that ALL of our doors were locked and the spare key (which we usually have hidden outside) was INSIDE because we had used it yesterday. To top it off, my angel of a child stood inside with her arms crossed and refused to let me back in.

Luckily, I was on the phone with David while this was going on. Unluckily (if that's a word), he was in Marshall, Texas and was dying laughing the whole time!

Finally, after much pleading and bribing, she let me in! WOW- what a morning already!

Day 114

The only picture I have from Easter festivities today. The rest are on David's phone, which was the only camera we remembered to bring with us for the day.

Here's Bailey hard at work on her He's Alive Buns for breakfast- a fun and yummy treat that Mommy messed up by using the wrong size marshmallows. Our Jesus hasn't been resurrected yet, he's still hanging out in the biscuit. Oh well!
